More meetings…

More meetings…

Since the last post quite some things have happened. First, we had a meeting with Johnny, head of the local office of Talon construction company. The meeting went better than we could ever hoped for. They were impressed by our service and interested in cooperating with us. The governance and the extra activities of the company are beyond standard – each week they hold workshops with different thematic for the workers and they regularly have health and HIV consultancies. Especially for that purposes they employ a health wellness manager. With the company representatives we agreed on further cooperation with the task of recommending to them 20 workers from Calvinia. However, the successful meeting was followed by a meeting with their consultant Jacques – a not really warm and kind man. He gave us completely different information on what they would like – or better said not like – from us. It became clear that there are some different views inside the company, therefore we asked them to reconcile first their opinions and get back on us. We are still waiting for their feedback… On a more positive note – we met with the municipality manager on Monday and got amazing results. They agreed to include our project in their scope of local development of Calvinia. First step was to send our business plan to the municipality manager who will include it in his report. Then on the 30th of July the municipality will hold a Council session where they will discuss the proposition of the municipality manager. We hope for the best! They also offered us an office space where our project will have physical presence after we leave Calvinia. Fruitful meeting was later followed by brunch in Hantam Guest House. 11748721_10153458440089705_1007117460_n 11733399_10153458445029705_1499396089_n As all of the other projects we also aim towards sustainability. For that purpose we found a local wiling to carry on with our project after our departure and in the remaining days it is on of our main tasks to train him for a further development of the project. Very busy last two weeks are ahead of us, stay tuned!
